Family-owned business for more than 151 years

With its modern structure and international outlook, the Tengelmann Group is a multi-sector retailer represented worldwide. In addition to the strategic business units, each of which has a leading-edge position in its respective sector, more than 80 holdings in start-ups complete the Group's portfolio. In financial year 2017, more than 86,000 employees generated net revenue of 7.5  billion euros.

Its divisions include OBI DIY stores (Wermelskirchen), the textiles and non-food discounter KiK (B?nen), the holding companies Tengelmann E-Commerce and Emil Capital Partners, as well as Trei Real Estate.

The holding company is located in Mülheim an der Ruhr, where the long-established family business was founded in 1867. Operational management of the Group is now in the hands of the fifth generation of the family headed by Christian W . E. Haub (CEO and Managing Partner).

Ecological and sociopolitical commitment is a high priority for the Tengelmann Group, which has won many awards for its energetic environmental protection program symbolized by Tengelmann’s own “Frog and Turtle” environmental seal. The launch of the Tengelmann Climate Initiative in 2007 is a logical continuation of this commitment.
